Job Title - Cell Bank Inventory Management Technician

Work Location – Cranbury NJ 

Shift/Schedule - Monday - Friday 9am-5pm Hourly position

 Job Summary

The Cell Bank Inventory Management Specialist will be responsible for the meticulous coordination, tracking, and maintenance of all master and working cell bank inventories within a cGMP environment. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate accounting, proper storage, and timely availability of critical cell bank materials for development and manufacturing activities. Detailed knowledge of the cell banking process and inventory management will be vital to ensure optimum process operations, as well as a high level of understanding of GDP. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess a strong understanding of cGMP requirements for material control and inventory management

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain meticulous and compliant documentation related to cell bank receipt, storage, and usage, aligning with cGMP standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for cell bank shipments and transfers.
  • Implement and maintain a robust and accurate cell bank inventory management system
  • Perform regular inventory checks to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Manage the physical storage of cell banks, ensuring appropriate environmental conditions are maintained and monitored.
  • Coordinate the receipt of new cell banks, quarantine, release, and distribution to end-users or for further manufacturing.
  • Oversee the logistics of cell bank shipments, including packaging, labelling, documentation, and coordination with couriers, ensuring chain of custody and integrity.
  • Ensure all cell bank inventory management activities adhere to cGMP regulations, internal SOPs, and quality standards.
  • Monitor and respond to temperature excursions or equipment alarms for storage units, initiating investigation and corrective actions as needed.
  • Participate in the investigation of deviations, CAPAs, and change controls related to cell bank inventory.
  • Maintain SOPs and other controlled documents relevant to cell bank inventory management.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing inventory records and related documentation.
  • Manage access controls for inventory systems and physical storage locations.
  • Support the planning, execution, and documentation of Master and Working Cell Bank generation, including cell expansion, cryopreservation, and quality control testing in compliance with cGMP standards.
  • Where necessary assist in Facility and Equipment start up and Validation activities.
  • Flexibility to take on additional tasks and responsibilities at the discretion of the Manufacturing Director
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of relevant cGMP, safety, and environmental regulations within the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience of LIMS, SAP, Trackwise etc. is an advantage.
  • Familiar with aseptic techniques and biohazard safety is a plus.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant science or engineering discipline, or equivalent in work experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory management, materials control, or logistics, preferably within a cGMP, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Direct experience with managing biological materials, cryopreservation, and cold-chain logistics is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with cell bank handling and storage principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of the documentation standards and protocols in a pharmaceutical/biopharma manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of cGMP principles and regulatory requirements related to material control and inventory.
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems
  • Strong record-keeping and documentation practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be proactive.
  • Results oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a short period of time.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and strong attention to detail

 

 

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $28-38hr
