Manufacturing Finite Scheduler

The key scope of responsibility for this role is to ensure the planning and release of orders to manufacturing take place efficiently, while ensuring sufficient materials and capacity are available for the manufacturing plan of record. This role acts as a single point of contact to plan all raw material deliveries, batch production and other ancillary activities.

Department Description

As Finite Scheduler, you’ll be joining an organization where people of all backgrounds and experiences are respected, and where we work together focused on changing lives. In this role you will report into the Manufacturing Operations Lead.

 

Your Responsibilities

 

The Finite Scheduler supports manufacturing operations in the following capacity:

  • Translate the master production schedule into detailed daily execution plans.
  • Finite scheduling of all processing and preparation activities – hour by hour schedule.
  • Build and modify the schedule model for MFG 6 and/or 7.
  • Scheduling of all activities required to support successful execution of all MFG6 and MFG7 batches.
  • Use finite scheduling and process models to create what-if scenarios to enable ramp up of production cadence, optimise product changeover and plan for lead-in and recovery from facility shutdowns.
  • Key point of contact re: performing modelling activities to simulate resource / equipment / room constraints.
  • Finite scheduling of all other associated activities (validation / maintenance / calibrations, etc.)
  • Become the SAP SME for Manufacturing.
  • Become the Orchestrate SME for Manufacturing.
  • Interface with SAP and to set up process orders for batch production and coordinate dispensing and delivery of all raw materials with Warehouse and Manufacturing.
  • Work with Manufacturing to integrate schedule into Standard Work Plans.
  • Liaise with the master scheduler in determining capacity statements and material requirements.
  • Measure and report on schedule performance at a detailed level.
  • Administer Cycle-Counting / Material control in the suite.
  • Support the CI process to eliminate procedural and scheduling inefficiencies.
  • Coordinate activities and liaise with various departments such as QA, QC, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Doc Control, Calibrations, Validation etc. as required.
  • Attend & present/report at tier meetings.
  • Maintain daily and weekly reports, ensuring that these are cascaded to the relevant parties.
  • Escalation of issues as required to ensure business continuity.
  • Ensure the finite schedule reacts to sudden schedule changes, and communicate details to the impacted parties, making exceptional changes to the schedule when required.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs, and controlled documents.
  • Identify and manage equipment training gaps and requirements.
  • Will be flexible to take on additional tasks and responsibilities at the discretion of the Manufacturing Associate Director. Will act as a role model for the manufacturing function and also the wider organisation in adherence to the WuXi corporate core values and PROUD culture.

 

Your Profile

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

 

Education:

  • Third level qualification in a science discipline is preferred; or equivalent experience with demonstrated in-depth understanding of processes, technology and function within bio/pharma GMP manufacturing.

 

Technical Knowledge/Experience:

 

  • Evidence of continuous professional development is desirable
  • Working knowledge of ERP such as SAP is desirable
  • Expertise of scheduling systems such as Orchestrate, SchedulePro, etc. is preferred
  • Strong levels of experience in a biopharmaceutical or pharma industry is required
  • Experience working within GMP manufacturing environment is desirable
  • Similar experience in the role of scheduler in a bio/pharma environment is required
  • Previous experience in the role of finite scheduler is a distinct advantage
  • Familiarity and in-depth knowledge of bio-process operations is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of the production environment/associated activities would be advantageous
