Sri Vignesh Devarajan is one of the longest-serving employees at WuXi Biologics in Germany. “I am employee number 25 in Leverkusen,” he recalls proudly, “I started as Automation Engineer in September 2020. I’m almost part of the furniture.”
Sri is constantly on the move between his desk, clean room and the server room. That’s his domain. “I have ownership for it,” he explains. “I’m responsible for the server room and the automation processes.” This includes building automation but also filling line automation (Optima Shop Floor Automation). “It’s a big responsibility, including responsibility for the finances. I’m very pleased that I am trusted to do it. With optimum automation, I can help the company save operational costs.”
Sri is very grateful to work for WuXi Bio and especially for the trust that the senior management has placed in him. “It’s really extremely important for me and gives me a lot of opportunities for personal growth,” he says. Sri is 30 years old and came to Germany from Chennai, India, in 2014. He earned his master’s degree in Automation & IT from the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, Germany. The job as Senior Automation Engineer is his third position since his graduation.
“WuXi Biologics is like a family to me,” points out Sri. “I feel a great loyalty towards the company and towards my colleagues and that always motivates me to give more and take on responsibility.”
He is also very satisfied with the team spirit. When he had to abandon his great passion, playing soccer, because of a knee injury, his colleagues were there for him. “It’s quite a pity, but I do get a lot of encouragement from my colleagues. In addition, I now have more time for my second hobby, playing chess,” he says with a smile. After all, his colleagues would have to have an exceptionally good day to checkmate Sri, who played professional chess on a regional level in India.
