Break Loose Force and Glide Force Evaluation of Various Container Closure System Combinations

A comprehensive evaluation of break loose force and glide force (BLGF) was conducted on 1 ml long (L) and 2.25 ml empty prefillable syringes (PFS) from three vendors, paired with four to five types of plunger stoppers. Twelve container closure system (CCS) combinations for 1 mL L syringes and fifteen for 2.25 mL syringes were assessed. The study found that plunger stopper properties, particularly design and formulation, significantly influence BLGF performance, while variations in silicone oil levels do not.
