The role of Environment, Health and Safety Lead is to manage the EHS function. This will be completed by providing an effective and efficient service in the execution of all duties and projects associated with the maintenance of Health & Safety, Environmental, Occupational Health and Sustainability Management systems, practices, and procedures along with the promotion and training of same.

 

Primary tasks and responsibilities:

 

  • Further developing a site safety culture of respect and integrity with a focus on communication, awareness and best practices and behaviour.
  • Providing the means for working towards zero lost time accidents and adherence to all environmental, safety and health legislation.
  • Increasing the safety awareness of all staff through promotion and training and working with departmental managers.
  • Ensure all Biosafety compliance requirements are maintained.
  • Monitoring & improving site EHS performance.
  • Maintaining & optimizing the Occupational Health Programme.
  • Lead the management of the company sustainability programme.
  • Previous relevant industrial experience in the pharmaceutical & biologics / vaccines industry.
  • Experience in Industrial Emission license, GHG permit compliance, ISO14001 and ISO45001.
  • Rich Experience conducting regular Site Safety and Environmental audits to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Experience leading an audit from a notified body.
  • Operated at Site Leadership Level (SLT) / part of a SLT Team.
  • Experience managing the industrial hygiene requirements to support the site.
  • Prior experience implementing a site emergency response program.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Strong problem resolution, judgement, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and influence across all levels within the organization.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s Degree in occupational health & safety, environmental health, health & safety management, or related field from a recognized institution. 
  • Professional certifications such as the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.

 

Experience: 

 

  • Minimum of 10 years working experience with at least 5 years managerial / leadership role in environmental, health, and safety, in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Strong understanding of Irish environmental, health, and safety regulations, standards, and industry practices.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementing control measures to mitigate health and safety risks.
  • Experience leading environmental compliance programs, including waste management, water quality, and biosafety requirements is essential.
  • Previous experience in people management roles, with demonstrated excellent leadership capabilities is a must.
