Company Overview
WuXi XDC is a global leader in integrated contract research, development, and manufacturing organization (CRDMO) focused exclusively on antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and other bioconjugates. We empower our biotech and pharmaceutical partners with end-to-end solutions from discovery through commercialization. Join us to be at the forefront of the next wave of targeted cancer therapies and novel bioconjugates.

Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and driven Business Development Director to spearhead our expansion within the dynamic US biotech sector. This role is pivotal for identifying, establishing, and nurturing new client relationships to grow our ADC and broader bioconjugate discovery service business. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter enthusiast with a hunter mentality, capable of deeply understanding client needs in ADC, AOC, DAC, APC, and other novel modalities, and aligning them with WuXi XDC’s world-class technical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Acquisition & Client Base Expansion:
    • Proactively identify, target, and establish relationships with new and emerging biotech clients in East Coast/Mid-West of USA focused on ADCs and other bioconjugates (e.g., AOCs, DACs, APC, dual-payload ADCs, BsADCs).
    • Drive the full sales cycle from lead generation and initial outreach to negotiation and closure of complex, strategic service agreements.
    • Develop a robust pipeline and forecast to consistently meet and exceed regional sales targets for discovery services.

  • Strategic Collaboration & Go-to-Market Execution:
    • Work in tight alignment with senior BD leadership, discovery scientists, and service line experts (bioconjugate discovery, payload-linker discovery, and Discovery TEs) to craft and execute effective market strategies and tactics.
    • Translate deep technical insights from internal teams into compelling value propositions for clients.
    • Collaborate on the development of tailored proposals, ensuring they accurately reflect client scientific goals and WuXi XDC’s technical strengths.

  • Market Intelligence & Competitive Strategy:
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the competitive landscape, including competitor strategies, service offerings, and positioning.
    • Provide actionable market intelligence and client feedback to internal leadership and service teams to inform the development of future service offerings and strategic direction.
    • Act as the "eyes and ears" in the US market, identifying trends, emerging modalities, and new opportunities for business growth.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership:
    • Serve as the primary client advocate and liaison, ensuring seamless handoff to project management and scientific teams post-contract.
    • Represent WuXi XDC at key industry conferences, networking events, and scientific meetings.

Qualifications

  • Education: Advanced degree (PhD, MBA, or MS) in a life sciences discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry) is highly preferred. A BA/BS with significant relevant experience will be considered.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8+ years in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships within the CRO/CDMO/CRDMO industry, with a mandatory focus on the US biotech sector.
    • Proven track record of successfully selling complex, high-value discovery and/or CMC services.
    • Understanding and direct experience with Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs) is essential. Knowledge of AOCs, DACs, and other bioconjugates is a strong plus.
    • Established network of contacts within biotech companies engaged in ADC/bioconjugate R&D.

  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Exceptional hunter mentality with proven ability to open new doors and build a book of business from the ground up.
    • Strong strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute territory plans.
    • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both scientists and C-level executives.
    • Results-oriented, data-driven, and capable of managing a complex sales pipeline.
    • Ability to travel domestically (~40-50%) as required.
