WuXi Biologics’ Holiday Donation Program Brings Warmth, Connection and Essentials During the Holiday Season

This past December, the Worcester MFG11 team and the Cranbury MFG18 team made group donations to local charities to give back to the community during the holiday season.

Worcester MFG11

Bucky’s Food Pantry at St. Bernard’s Church in Worcester, Massachusetts distributes food to people in need in the surrounding community. They are well established within the community and frequently host fundraisers and drive-through food distribution events.

The MFG11 team was put into contact with the food pantry through Worcester City Councilor Candy Mero-Carlson and were inspired by this organization’s admirable mission to benefit the local community. After receiving a list of the pantry’s most desired food items, the MFG11 team collected donations in the local office during the week leading up to Christmas. On Tuesday December 22nd, several team members donated additional time and effort to deliver 288 food items, ranging from canned food and noodles to cereal, snacks, and toiletries to the pantry.

Cranbury MFG18

UrbanPromise Trenton is a non-profit organization in Trenton, New Jersey that provides youth and teens in the urban community with a chance to believe in, and build, a positive future. Their mission is: “To equip Trenton’s children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, Christian leadership.”

Following in the footsteps of MFG11, the MFG18 team reached out to the local government in Cranbury for suggestions on outreach opportunities within the community. The office of Michael J. Ferrante, the mayor of Cranbury Township, suggested that the MFG18 team reach out to the First Presbyterian Church whom they described as very proactive in community involvement.

Due to restrictions of COVID-19, the number of events that team members could participate in were very limited. Fortunately, the First Presbyterian Church was hosting a virtual giving tree fundraising event for UrbanPromise Trenton. The MFG18 team came together to collect a total of $850 to donate directly to UrbanPromise Trenton, which led to literature-themed gifts for students in the program: T-shirts, hoodies, flannels and more.

Both charities expressed their appreciation for the donations. The U.S. MFG team hopes that the donations of food and monetary contributions will bring some joy and relief to individuals and families in need. We will endeavor to give back even more to the community over the coming years!
