In pursuit of our CSR goals, WuXi Biologics has established a company-wide volunteer association and a corresponding volunteer platform to provide dedicated resources for employees seeking to make a positive impact in their communities.

On December 5, 2020, the International Volunteer Day, the WuXi Biologics Volunteer Association (China Region) was officially established under the auspices of the WuXi Biologics Volunteer Council and with support from the WuXi Biologics Charity Foundation, with an initial funding of over RMB 2 million to support WuXi Biologics’ CSR initiatives in China.

At the inaugural event, Dr. Chris Chen, CEO of WuXi Biologics, sent in his congratulatory video message and extended his firm commitment to and full support of the volunteer initiatives to give back to local communities. “WuXi Biologics is not only a technology platform to enable biotech companies to roll out treatments for patients. Recognizing that our employees know their communities best, we also aim to serve as a resource for them as they seek ways to make an impact,” Chris explained.

During the event, Ms. Sharon Tang, head of Corporate Communications, president of the WuXi Biologics CSR Council, announced that the China-based team entered into a fruitful collaboration with the China Population Welfare Foundation (CPWF), an NGO devoted to enhancing public health awareness and related services in rural parts of the country. WuXi Biologics donated RMB 500,000 to purchase medical kits for underprivileged families and the elderly in the Jiangxi province.

On the same day, members of the association purchased additional quantities of first aid kits and delivered them to support low-income seniors in local communities.

Following the WuXi Biologics CSR guideline, WuXi Biologics has established a company-wide volunteer association with site-level branches and a corresponding volunteer platform to provide dedicated resources for global employees seeking to make an impact in their communities. We view our CSR initiatives as long-term investments in the communities in which we operate. As our company continues to grow, so will our CSR efforts.

As a global CRDMO, we remain steadfast in our vision that through our industry-leading technology and with our multidisciplinary teams of talented professionals. We can accelerate and transform the discovery, development, and manufacturing of lifesaving biologics for the ultimate benefit of patients and global health. WuXi Biologics recognizes that our CSR efforts are a natural extension of our daily work and company vision. Looking ahead, our CSR initiatives will focus on public health, rare diseases, oncology, education, environmental protection and social well-being.

As of October 2021, 470 volunteers in China and 200 volunteers at sites in Ireland, Germany and the United States signed up with our volunteer association and are actively involved in various CSR initiatives such as environment protection, rare disease education, having contributed nearly 1,300 volunteer service hours.
