Accuracy Is Something I Take Seriously
Accuracy Is Something I Take Seriously

Jessica Kell likes to laugh, and she always has an open ear for her colleagues. The 23-year-old Documentation Management Specialist started in September 2021 in DP7 in Leverkusen, Germany. At WuXi Bio, she regularly offers GMP training, for instance for operators. “Almost weekly, I just enjoy talking to colleagues, teaching them things,” she says with bright eyes. “The work at WuXi Bio is totally diverse, there’s always something new coming up and that’s a lot of fun.”

Originally, Jessica trained as a chemical lab technician. After that, she worked in labs at Lanxess and Viatris, but quickly realized that lab work wasn’t for her. “I didn’t enjoy it,” she admits openly, “it wasn’t what I wanted or what suited me. In addition, I had to work with pesticides and that was too dangerous for my liking. In the end, the health risk was too high for me.”

Then, the offer from WuXi Biologics in Leverkusen campus. Apart from GMP training and documentation, her tasks include batch review and post-production master batch record control. “This is exactly my thing,” Jessica says happily. “It just fits. And I realized very quickly that I am much better at it compared to my previous jobs in the lab.” At GMP, accuracy matters, and Jessica is very diligent about her responsibilities. “It’s extremely important and I take it very seriously,” she explains, “because here, it’s about human lives. If we are sloppy or inaccurate, it can have an impact on people’s health. We always have to keep that in mind.”

Accuracy is something Jessica learned from her parents. “Oh, yes, they were very diligent, especially my mother when it came to cleaning. She followed a very strict regiment,” she recalls with a laugh. “Today, that precision is what drives me to do my part in supporting the health of so many people around the world. That’s why I’m very grateful to my mother for attaching so much importance to it during my childhood.”
